Outcome

Wakenote is a device that helps students reach their highest potential. While the student is taking notes this device will record the lecture, turning speech into text. Wakenote not only helps with notes, but also has a feature that will wake students if they dose off during class.

The physical device connects to an application via bluetooth, turning speech from the lecture into text. The device records the entire lecture and highlights the text when it senses the user has nodded off. This feature allows the user to easily review the material they missed in class.

Once the text is in the application you can organize it by subject or date, you can even add in charts and equations into subjects like Math and Science. After you've tweaked your notes export them into your favorite service like Evernote or Google Doc.

Objective

Helping students maintain attention in class by preventing them from falling asleep.

Process

What is the high tech solution to helping students stay alert and take their best notes in a lecture based class? After doing primary research for Fiddle, a project that asked for a low tech solution to this objective, I had a strong base of information to work from.

Below is my process showing the transformation of this high tech project.
